Employee Gift-Giving That Will Light Up the Season
Research backs up what successful organizations have known all along – showing employees appreciation feeds productivity, retains employees, and transforms workplace culture. Gifts are a tangible way to express your appreciation for each employee’s contribution to your organization. It may seem like a simple gesture, but expressing genuine appreciation matters more to recipients than you may think. Are you charged with employee gift-giving? We can help!
According to Quantum Research, “Recognition is a powerful feedback tool. When employees feel valued, they’re more engaged, motivated, and likely to go the extra mile for their company. Organizations with formal employee recognition programs have 31% less voluntary turnover than organizations that don’t have any program at all. And they’re 12x more likely to have strong business outcomes.
“If leaders want to drive employee, team, and business success, they need to prioritize employee recognition.”
The connection between employee recognition and engagement
SHRM Globoforce Employee Recognition Survey found that, “Organizations with recognition programs in place experience 28.6% lower frustration levels than those without.”
Additionally, “Recognition in the Workplace” research by Quantum Workplace and BambooHR found that 52.5% of employees want more recognition from their immediate manager; 4 in 10 respondents (41%) want more recognition from their immediate coworkers; and when companies spend 1% or more of payroll on recognition, 85% notice a positive impact on engagement.
We are big proponents of thank you in all its forms. Verbal expressions of thanks are important, handwritten notes are incredibly impactful, and gifts make people smile just a little bigger!
Gifts Send a Powerful Message
What makes an employee gift successful? Hint: It’s not about the money.
Regardless of the price point, what matters most to employees is the spirit in which the gift is given. The essence of workplace holiday gift-giving is gratitude: your gratitude for employees’ contributions over the past year and employees’ gratitude toward you for showing your appreciation.
